A Graduate of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, Elliott Spruell took the reigns of the Oakland City University men's soccer team in 2016, bringing a wealth of experience to the sidelines of Aigner Field.

"We think we have a great hire in Elliott,' smiles Oakland City University Director of Athletics Dr. Mike Sandifar, "He has a great amount of respect in the soccer community throughout the United States, and he is a perfect fit for our University, both in and out of the classroom, and on and off the field.

"Elliott has commanded the respect of all those under his direction, as well as all those with whom he works. We are excited to have him on the soccer field, in the classroom, and as a part of our community."

In his first campaign, Coach Spruell led the Oaks to a 4-9 record, going just 3-6 in games decided by two goals or less, including a pair of 3-2 victories to finish the season.

The Mt. Carmel, Illinois, native played soccer and ran track at Mt. Carmel High School, graduating in 2002, then headed north to Appleton, Wisconson, where he accepted a scholarship at Lawrence University. A biology major, with a concentration in marine biology, Spruell played varsity soccer for four years at Lawrence.

Spruell pursued his desire to become a marine biologist after graduation, moving to Florida. However, after one year, he returned to Appleton, where he was an assistant soccer coach for both the men's and women's varsity programs for three seasons.

After the 2009 soccer campaign, Spruell moved west, enrolling at Long Beach State University, in Long Beach, California, where he enrolled in the graduate program, pursuing a master's degree in sports management.

In 2012, he completed his degree, then accepted the position of assistant director of coaching education for Cal South Soccer in California, where he was responsible for working with over 2,000 coaches each year.

He remained in that position for four years before accepting the men's soccer coaching position at Oakland City University in August of 2016.

In addition to his coaching duties at OCU, Spruell teaches sports administration and business classes.

He is married to Laura "Zukey" Dudoit and currently resides in Boonville, Indiana, with her three children, Adalyah, Ariel and Yehoshua.
