The Oakland City University men's cross country team has competed in the National Finals nine times. The team is coached by Will Niederhaus, and competes from September through November.

Sep. 2 2014 - OCU Freshman Jesse Stanley Sets Record in Collegiate Debut

The Oakland City University men's cross country team opened their season at Principia College on Saturday, August 30. As a team, the Oaks finished 2nd overall, besting Illinois College and Blackburn College, and trailing the host school.

The team was led by Jesse Stanley, a freshman from Boonville High School in Boonville, Indiana, who set a new course record by running the six kilometer race in a time of 20:32.9, over 14 seconds faster than the nearest competitor.

Sophomore Will Niederhaus, from Princeton Community High School in Princeton, Indiana, placed 5th with a time of 22:10, followed by Tanner Mason (Sophomore, Pike Central High School, Petersburg, Indiana), who came in 10th at 22:46. Freshman Zackary Lantham, from Union High School in Union, Missouri, placed 13th overall, finishing with a time of 23:14. Nathan Sparks (Junior, Gibson Southern High School, Haubstadt, Indiana) finished 19th with a time of 24:00, followed by senior Seth Farley (St. John Lutheran High School, Ocala, Florida), who ran a 24:32 to place 21st, and Corey Oser (Junior, Southridge High School, Holland, Indiana), who crossed the line in 23rd place at 25:06.

The Mighty Oaks will return to the course on Friday, September 5, at the USI Stegemoller Classic, held at Angel Mounds State Park in Evansville, Indiana.

Apr. 23 2013 - Mighty Oaks Cross Country Signs Two from Whiteland Community High School

The Oakland City University men's cross country coach, Cassidy Nalley, announced the signing on two Whiteland Community High School standouts for the 2013-14 season. Dylan Cooper and Kevin Diaz will join the Mighty Oaks cross country team this fall.


Mar. 1, 2013 - OCU Cross Country to Host Second Annual Run at the Oaks 5K Race

The Oakland City University cross country team will host the secondd annual Run at the Oaks 5K race on the Oakland City University campus. The event will take place on Saturday, March 16, beginning at 9:00 am.

Registration is open to all ages. The event cost is $20 for early registration, open until March 9, and $25 for registration accepted until the race begins. Checks should be made payable to Oakland City University, with Cross Country in the memo line.

Mar. 31, 2012 - OCU Hosts First Annual 5K on the Oakland City University Campus

The Oakland City University men's and women's cross country teams hosted the first annual 5K race on Saturday, March 31. The 39 runners took off from just in front of the Murray Administration building and made a loop around town before finishing between Murray and the Cornwell-Reed Fine Arts Center.

The overall champion was Nick Ivy, finishing with a time of 17:02. Conner Wilson came in second with a time of 18:23, while William Teague came in third at 21:05. Brandon Morton, a freshman member of the Oakland City University men's basketball team, finished fourth, running the course in 21:31, edging out Andy Jones, who came in at 21:39.

Other OCU students and staff who participated in the race were Dr. Jim Pratt (10th, 23:15), Jessica Manges (12th, 23:48), Lenzie Kerchief (16th, 24:20), Whitney Malin (17th, 25:10), Nick Powers (19th, 25:13), and Broch Hayes (27th, 31:34).

Oakland City University's head baseball coach T-Ray Fletcher announces the early signing of Seth Farley. Set to graduate from St. John Lutheran High School in Ocala, Florida, Seth will join both the baseball and cross country teams in the Fall of 2011. While in high school, Farley has been a four-year starter in both sports.

In baseball, Farley has earned 2010 District Player of the year, two-time All-County Team, four-time Star Banner News Athlete of the Week, two-time team MVP and two-time gold glove winner, all while compiling a .469 batting average with 101 stolen bases, 28 doubles, nine triples, one home run, 80 RBI and 98 runs.

"Seth is very athletic and will fit in well with our style of play," notes Coach Fletcher. "He can play a number of positions, but wants to compete for time behind the plate. I am excited to have him be a part of our program and I think he will be a nice addition next season."

In addition to his expected contribution to the baseball program, Farley will also be running for the Mighty Oaks cross country team. In high school, he was a two-time All-County selection, eight-time Star Banner News Athlete of the Week and four-time St. John Lutheran High School Male Runner of the Year.



Oct 30, 2010 - OCU Fairs Well at Kentucky Christian

Oakland City University's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 8th annual Late Knight's Run, hosted by Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky. Teams from Taccoa Falls College, Indiana University-East, Cincinnati Christian University, West Virginia Tech, Johnson Bible College and PIkeville College rounded out the field.
There were 40 runners in the men's race. Oakland City placed three in the top twenty, including Kelsey Rowland (7th, 30:13), Clint Wetzel (14th, 31:30) and Gare Bozeman (19th, 32:44). Mat Murphy finished 25th with a time of 35:46. The men ran an 8k race, consisting of rough terrain, rolling hills, off-road trails, mud, gravel and pavement.
There were 36 participants in the women's race. Oakland City's Falon DeVore led the entire race, winning by a comfortable 200-300 meters in her last regular season race in a time of 20:50. Alishaa Green placed 14th with a time of 25:16 and Sarah Sigman came in 16th with a time of 25:26.
Next up for the OCU cross country teams is the NCCAA D-I National Championships, held on November 13th in Cedarville, OH.

May 27, 2010 - OCU Hosts 5K Run

The OCU Cross Country teams hosted a 5K run on Saturday July 10th, 2010 at Prides Creek in Petersburg, IN. Race time was at 11am EST. There was an entry fee of $20 for runners entering before June 28th, and a fee of $25 for runners entering after June 28th.
